Nicaragua
Over 2300 small-scale farmers have joined together to create the Central Multiple Service Cooperative, known as PRODECOOP (est 1993). These farms are located in the Northern Nicaraguan mountains of the Segovias. The coffees produced here are shade grown and the beans are manually harvested. PRODECOOP carefully supervises all phases of the coffee production and processing to insure strict quality control. The last few years have been spent identifying and marketing the co-op’s best coffees in order to imporove the economic status of all the farmers. These familes are very proud to offer excellent , high quality coffees as evidence of their hard and dedicated labor. Good body , acidity and exquisite aroma are the fine qualities of this bean. In 2004 Cooperative members participated in the Nicaraguan cupping competition, “The Cup Of Excellence,” in which the co-op was awarded five of the top ten quality awards!
