“Iron” bound Nicole !
Congratulations Nicole Weidensaul on your great finish at the Eagleman Triathlon June 14, 2009 in Cambridge, MD. 1.2 mile swim, 56 mi bike , 13.1 mi run (18th of 78 in her age group in 05:22:05 - I think a personal best ? )
Friend of WBR, and member/officer of the Fredericksburg Triathlon Club. Nicole is also a Youth Dance instructor in the Fredericksburg area. as well as a Personal trainer running her own business – She is well on her way to competing in her first ever Ironman Louisville Kentucky August 30, 2009 ! A dream that was forced on the back burner for what seemed like ~ forever ~
Nicole is just about fully recovered from an injury that sidelined her for over 12 months – I’ll never forget that – a strong finish at the Patirot Half Ironman in september 2007, an ok Marine Corps Marathon finish with husband Dan later that fall – I say ok….because Nicole felt “something” coming on , but we athletes don’t always want to read into those “signs” purposely placed there by our “higher and mighty” powers - then the bad news and an Ironman dream for 2008 that just was not meant to be ! Nicole had aggravated an existing foot injury – a reconstructed ankle back around 2004 – but this time – tendonitis and weeks and weeks in a boot , cast and finally surgery she never expected…nor did any of us ~~and of course…recovery ~~
She is off to a great year with a very disciplined training schedule ( yes, biking in freszing and sometimes sleety conditions takes discipline !! ) some great finishes at recent triathlons and foot races - We’ll be following you Nicole! Good luck on your continued training and perseverence!! You are an inspiration to us all !!
