On Thursday April 29, 2010, 7:00 pm – Author of acclaimed best sellers, The Glass Castle and Half Broke Horses,  Jeanette Walls will be signing and discussing her books at a special event sponsored by Germanna Community College,  benefiting The Culpeper Literacy Council.

Finding that right gift for that special someone gets  harder and harder each year.   Not everyone drinks or likes coffee .. but for those that do… I can help you!  Fresh coffee is one thing, but unique labels and packaging is another. I’ve been making gift boxes  available for the last few holiday seasons.   I package 3 bags of your choice in cool cardboard gift boxes. The  Labor Day 5k for Fair Trade Certified Awareness was held Monday Sept 7th at the Culpeper Rec Club.  I would have to say it was a great success even if 30 some participants showed up. We opened with a moment of silence as we remembered  the  two  young athletes that passed away  recently, leaving a big void in Culpeper and surrounding counties. .   Both were soccer players, Alana Hester (CCHS)  and Preston Herton (Mary Washington player) .

October celebrates Fair Trade  Month…  I wanted to have this 5k then but unfortunately  my plate is full in October with the Xterra Wold Championships in Maui .    So we will celebrate it on Labor day – it seems  appropriate :)      In business for 3 years now, World Bean Roasthers became Fair Trade Certified knowing consumers would feel good  that their purchase  (Fair Trade, organics) was  helping empower poor coffee growing communities.  Having lived many years in Africa I’ve seen first hand …
